• Upon hearing these words, Sima burst into laughter and said, “You are finally on the path I want you to be on. Kaddaru, know that in my life, there is nothing I desire more than to travel and witness the wonders of the world. “So know this, I, Sima, swear by the sacred magic I inherited from my ancestors: I will not marry any man unless he surpasses me in beauty, power, and wealth. I have searched through my mystical mirror and discovered the existence of a book called the *Kundin Tsatsuba*. This book contains a thousand marvelous secrets. If I can obtain and read it, I will gain a level of glory no creature has ever achieved—past, present, or future. I’ve done my best to locate this book, but I’ve failed. Kaddaru, my search has revealed that I will never meet a man who is worthy of me until I read a page from *Kundin Tsatsuba*. • As Princess Sima spoke, Kaddaru’s mind was overwhelmed, leaving him unable to respond. He stood in silence, deep in thought. A servant came forward with a large blue veil and draped it over Sima. She moved closer to Kaddaru, intending to place her hand on his shoulder, but he quickly stepped back.

• Kaddaru took a deep breath and replied, “Long may you live, my lady. I fear it would be a grave offense for your hand to touch any man who is not destined to be your husband. I swear by the honor of this palace, that to my knowledge, since the day your mother bore you, no man has ever touched you—not even your father. It was he himself who declared the law: any man who touches you shall be beheaded. He made this rule solely because of your unmatched beauty. To this day, the law remains, and we strictly uphold it.”

 

Sima smiled and said, “I understand your point. Now, listen to mine.”

• “What I want from you,” she continued, “is to take me to the most powerful sorcerer in this land, so he can locate the *Kundin Tsatsuba* and help me claim it.”

 

When Kaddaru heard this, he fell silent for a few seconds. Then he raised his head, looked at Sima, and said, “Long may you live, my lady. In this entire land, no one has the power to do this except Sorcerer Sulbaini Ibn Barzuk. But know that, as of now, he is in the forests of Falwas, inside the Ruhim Cave, conducting a forty-day mystical retreat for a matter of personal significance. I fear disturbing him may incur his wrath upon me.”
