**The Neighborhood of Farin Yaro**
Around 4 p.m., the neighborhood fell silent, with hardly any movement. A tall, beautiful girl with chocolate-colored skin walked through the quiet streets. Her face was delicate and perfectly shaped, with a sharp, well-defined nose, large doe-like eyes that sparkled like fish designs, and bright, milk-white pupils framed by long, dark lashes, as though she were wearing false ones. Her small, pink lips were naturally heart-shaped, with soft, black sideburns that lay along her smooth cheeks. Her silky, black hair fell gracefully across her forehead like an Arabian princess. She had dainty toes with beautiful, well-shaped, milk-white nails. She wore a lovely pink blouse-style gown, complemented by a small black hijab.
- She seemed about 13 years old, and one look at her was enough to tell that she came from a life of comfort. Yet, her face bore the marks of dried tears, a sign that she had been crying. She held a box of matches in her hand, her pretty feet fitted in black flat shoes that matched her hijab. She was truly stunning; her beauty was almost beyond description.
She stepped off the main road and walked into an alley, moving in small, tired steps as if she were exhausted. As she approached a corner, a young man called out, “Wait a moment, young lady.” She turned to look at him. He sat in his car with the door open, his feet outstretched. She hesitated, then remembered her mother’s advice, “Never look down on anyone, as you never know when you might cross paths with them again.” This thought pushed her to approach him, though her expression remained tense.
- From a short distance away, she said in her soft, strong voice, “Here I am,” her tone showing her frustration. The young man stepped out of his car, looking around to ensure they were alone. Quickly, he pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and pressed it over her face. Instantly, she began to lose consciousness, her body weakening. He caught her before she could fall, pushed her into the back seat, and jumped into the driver’s seat. Driving at a frantic speed, he exited the alley. In the back seat, there were already three unconscious girls, all female, making a total of four.
The clock struck 4:30 p.m. in Nigeria.
- The house they arrived at was modest, with a small entrance door. It wasn’t exactly a poor person’s house, nor was it luxurious. You could say it belonged to a family of moderate means, but it was the most attractive house in the neighborhood, with well-organized features. Inside, there were two rooms and a small kitchen on the left side of the courtyard, and a bathroom on the right side. The house had a moderately sized courtyard.
A beautiful woman sat in the courtyard on a mat, picking through rice grain by grain, her legs outstretched. It was clear from her appearance that she was well taken care of. She wore an elegant black lace dress with hints of red, her wrists and neck adorned with expensive gold jewelry. Her skin was fair and flawless. In a soft voice, she looked up and called, “Jehan! Jehan!” From inside the room, a rich voice responded, “Yes, Mum?”
- “Go check on Rimsha. She went out a while ago to buy matches and hasn’t returned. You know she’s still not very familiar with the area. Hurry, so we can start cooking; it’s getting late.”
“Mum, I’m honestly tired. The day before yesterday, I went with her to the shop and showed her the way. Didn’t you say she was smarter than me? She should be able to find her way back on her own. She’ll return soon enough,” Jehan replied in English, finishing her sentence as she stepped out of the room.
